Been busy

It has been a crazy few days, we finally have all the cases of wine out of the house and it has made it possible to move!  I can now start getting more things done with the house, Eric has been released from the Dr to return to work. All I can say is after eight months I will be glad to have my insurance back but sad because I have adjusted to having him around so much.

I did receive my first Birch Box and will be writing a review on the lovely products from that, an update on my order from the Sugar Works company and a few other items that I have been trying to get a review done on.  I may have to take him to Texas to get his work truck so start looking for the above mentioned and other things mid next week.

   Enjoy the weather everyone!

Sugar Works

I used to order sugar scrubs from another company, they closed down and I have not purchased any in years.  I started making my own, I don't have the space or an area in the house for doing that at the moment, so I went online and found a company called Sugar Works.

  http://www.sugarworksbathandbody.com/

I just received my order today, the prices have gone up from what I used to pay by a lot. $15.95 for an 11oz jar and they call this their large.  Well, instead of receiving my two 11oz containers I received two 8oz containers. I have contacted customer support and will post the outcome of this.

So about the product, the scrubs scent is very light, not overwhelming.  For some they may like that I prefer more of a stronger scent.  For the glitter lovers it is sparkly at least on the top.  I have not used the scrubs because I do not know if I will be sending them back to get my order straight or what is going on yet.

I got the buttercake and whipped marshmallow foaming body scrubs.  The buttercake has more of a light almond scent, the marshmallow has a light fragrance of... plastic.  I am really hoping when I do get to use them they smell better when you dig into them and it is just the packaging I smell at the top.

I also ordered two Dry oil body mists $12.50 each for 4oz bottle.  One in Cinnamon Stars the other in Dark Chocolate Noel.  Both are nice I prefer the Dark Chocolate Noel, they smell very nice together.  Unlike some places that say dry oil and your skin feels oily this actually is a nice dry oil.  The fragrance seems to last pretty well.

Once I hear from Sugar Works I will let you know how it turned out.  I have to say this for my own peace of mind.  I love the pretty wrappings but I wish these companies would stop adding the extra shredded paper and gift paper unless it is asked for additionally.  There is enough garbage to deal with and that is where most of this ends up.

Shock Roxie home at last.

By the time we made it to Three Oaks, Michigan they were on their last song.  We did get to spend a little time with Sallie, but her fans where there and wanting to talk to her.  The drive home was "interesting"  what should have been an easy 45 minute trip turned into a 4.5 half hour turning, twisting getting on to toll roads heading to Chicago sort of excursion.  Home was in the other direction.

We went, we seen we got lost and then conquered our way home.  Nice try on keeping us Michigan.... Muahahaha...  I am tired, so time to mow the lawn and find my bed.  Have a great weekend everyone!

My husbands Julep Box came in!

Granted he was not as thrilled about having nail polish sent to him as I was.  The colors that were in his box were from the Boho set a pretty gecko sparkly green " Etta" and a deep dark blue "Millie".  I only ordered it because I couldn't make up my mind what set i wanted.

One other thing about the polish from Julep is they are extremely runny.  So if you do order from them make sure you glide the brush against the bottle really good before applying or you will have a mess on your hands "literally".  The colors are still very vibrant with one coat.  I was in a rush so did not have the time to do a second.

Shock Roxie

Heading out to see Shock Roxie in Three Oaks, Michigan tonight.  Great band love their music and their enthusiasm.  Sallie has one hell of a voice, can't wait.

My Julep came in.

I received my first box from Julep today, to be honest I was more excited about the box and packaging than the products inside.  I did try the two nail polish, they are pretty colors the white opal like color "Zora" is the name, seemed to dry much quicker than the red one "Myrtle".

I was going to post pictures of it on my nails but I have been playing with a self tanning spray system and have weird coloring going on with my hands.  I took pictures of everything I tried the glycolic hand scrub, it wasn't anything all that spectacular but I will continue using it and see if there is a difference.  I did get a free nail file and a one use polish remove pad.

Overall it was a great deal for the $3.99 shipping but I cannot see paying $19.99 a month for this as I don't care for the hand scrub and I can go to my local store and purchase polish that is just as pretty and get at least four bottles or more for their monthly due.  Check my earlier post for the free first box, you just have to pay the shipping and I don't know how long it will be good for.

This may be for you or not.

CHI Infra Shampoo and Treatment

This is by far my favorite shampoo and conditioner.  On the days I am busy or just not wanting to deal with straight ironing my hair I do not have to with these.  We all know we are not supposed to wash our hair in hot water, with this I do.  My hair doesn't seem to suffer any the worse for it.

The pics I am posting are after I have washed my hair with the Chi and just did a fast sweep with my straight iron.  I will do some pics of my hair at some point using a basic shampoo and no ironing.  I am not kidding when I say my hair is frizzy and very wavy, when the humidity is high and I do not iron it I have lots of curls.  If they were smooth, pretty curls like some I have seen I would be a happy woman, but they are not.

Depending on where you buy it the prices range from $12 - $14 a bottle.  I actually found it for $10 at Wal-Mart in Oklahoma City before we moved and wished I could have stocked up on it.  If you have not tried it and looking for a great product, TRY IT!

Schwarzkopf got2b Oil-Licious

Where do I begin with this disappointing product.  I used this only twice, I normally try a product no less than a week straight but I could not do it this time.  It does live up to the "Oil" part, It is supposed to help smooth out frizzy hair, make it look glossy and shiny.  It looked shiny, it also felt like I had not washed my hair in a month of Sunday's.

I bought the shampoo and conditioner and one of the bottles had a sample of the serum/oil.  I never tried it, my hair was oily even after drying it and my poor straight iron had this weird brown stuff on it afterwards.  Luckily it is a great straight iron and the ceramic plates wipe clean easily.

I do not like my hair being weighted down or looking dingy, so not something I would suggest for others to use.  Then again every persons hair is different but definitely steer clear of this if you have this or fine hair.  At 4.99 a bottle with the free sample I still felt very cheated.

Just wondering has anyone else tried the Oil-Licious and had good results?

I just purchased Shea Moisture from CVS, tried it once will let you know how it goes.  Loved the way the first wash came out.

Husbands Man Cave couch

Since Eric dislocated his shoulder I have been trying to keep him from lifting much so he can heal quicker. A friend gave him a couch Friday since he went to a friends to help them with a fan it was my chance to get it moved.

My friend Steph is on her way to help me move the couch but she didn't buy the story I gave her about how it moved itself from the trailer to the basement.

I think I should be hurt by her lack of belief but what can you do with doubters?

GlossyBox

Have I ever mentioned I am a 3 year old when it comes to things I want?  Well I am, I just signed up with GlossyBox as well.  Their monthly price for each box is $21.00 a bit heftier than the $10.00 Birch box but I will have to see if it is worth it.

Miracle 7 Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner

I have been using the Miracle 7 keratin shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks now.  To be honest I would give it a 6 and that is not in the miracle department.  I know every persons hair is different but let me tell you why I almost went running to put it back on the shelf.

I went to my local Sallie's and was looking for a new shampoo and conditioner.  I had heard a lot about how keratin shampoo's were supposed to be awesome for your hair.   I went up to pay for my bottles and the woman at the counter had severely dry, frizzy hair.  I am in no way being rude about this woman, she seemed nice enough.  When I placed my purchase on the counter she got excited and told me that was the shampoo and conditioner she always used and how it made her hair soft, smooth.

My mind started reeling from this, my hair is extremely dry and frizzy.  I go to extreme lengths to keep it smooth and deceptively shiny.  I decided to try it any how, she may have been having an off day, a shampoo switch week or just using selling tactic, that would be unnecessary since I was already purchasing it.

Now for my results, my hair was some what soft nothing to get excited about, I got mad at the conditioner pump because it would not pop up.  I fought with it for almost 15 minutes, so I have to hold the bottle run the pump through my hair and then try and squeeze this extremely thick almost like a thin body butter.  It does not spread through the hair very well so it takes a good amount to cover my hair.  My hair was a bit tangled and still a bit frizzy after straight ironing it.

Vo5 does better in my opinion, but I do still prefer my Chi shampoo/ conditioner.  The HerStyler shampoo/conditioner isn't bad either.  My next trials of shampoo will be either the Caviar or some of the sulfate free natural one's.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions let me know in the comment box below, or on my contact me page "that I just got back up again".

Smith's RoseBud SALVE

I love, love did I say love?  This salve I have been using for years, I am not usually big on petroleum based products because they do trap moisture in but they do not let more in or anything out.  The RoseBud salve is very light weight and I use it as a lip balm and on my elbows.

It comes in a 0.8 oz/ 22grm tin, I use it daily and one can last me year.  Well as long as I do not leave it in my car :(.  Extreme heat and salve equals a gooey mess that leaks.  It is meant to help with dry skin to diaper rash.

I purchase mine at Sephora at a price of $6.00.  They do carry two other fragrances one is Minted Rose Lip Balm the other Strawberry Lip balm.  These go for $7.00 each, though the front says lip balm they serve the same purpose as the RoseBud.

If you are not a Beauty Insider at Sephora, join up it is free and you get points for each purchase.  As well as nice samples and first dibs at special items.  Not to mention the Birthday gift every year, can't forget that!

Any how enough about Sephora.  This salve is good my lips are always soft and never feel like I have been kissing a grease tray.  So give it a try.
